John Hsu: There are many of them. For example, Katamari damacy.
I will not guess that from the bloody, horror humor of this movie.
It is not a direct influence, but I really like the eccentric of the game. Every time I approached the game, I was really emotional, because it was like – I could roll something really big, and everything became one, just a purpose. It is like Tokyo’s father or Little Miss Sunshine – [movie characters’] The goal may be super stupid, but they are doing it anyway.
For me, Katamari damacy Like, you always roll something and become bigger. It may not have any kind of meaning, but you do it many times. You are making the ball bigger and bigger, but what is that for? And then you send it to the sky to become a star. It was a meaningless and meaningful kind of meaning at the same time.

That is the point of that game – time is fleeting. And is the nature of your whole life after you die?
The main character is very similar to our main character. He has a musician’s mother, always motivating him to become another musician. And he was very sick as a child, so he thought he would not satisfy his mother’s expectations. Therefore, it is exactly like the rookies Talented society dead. When I played the game during the writing process, I was surprised at its similarity.
Talented society dead It is quite personal to me, in terms of arcs of rookie story. I was forced to play the piano when I was 10 years old or something. One of the songs I really have difficulty practicing is a song that the character Before your eyes playing. Therefore, it is a coincidence for me when realizing that actually, there are many people who have similar situations-or a confusion about your own value or about your identity when you consider too many other people’s opinions. It leads to the impersonation syndrome.
It fascinates me that none of these are horror games, that you are more affected by the philosophical elements of different games. Is there any horror game meaning for you?
Oh yeah. Silent hill 2. Sure. I am a big fan of that series. I think the silent hill story is its best 2.
