Bungie revealed its shooting game Marathon Through livestream on Saturday. Marathon has been officially revealed in May 2023 and Bungie has been relatively silent since its announcement. But when the studio prepares for the release date on September 23, it will open floods on everything Marathon.
The studio starts the event with a quick introduction and a flashy introduction, which you can see above, followed by some of its developers discussing more detailed games. This leads into a significant longer introduction (narrated by Ben Starr of Final Fantasy 16 and Balatro famous) how to explain how Marathon Works.
The idea is that every player lives in the shell of a runner, a biological mercenaries. The player will then group the three teams to fall into many maps on the colony of Tau Ceti IV.
When they arrive, players will search around the environment to find loot and complete contracts for their factions to return home. They will also encounter other players and can kill them to steal their spoils. Players can extract safely from Tau Ceti IV will maintain any and all the devices they find while exploring and hunting. Death, however, will cause players to remove everything in their warehouse – including any items they bring into the lobby.
After more discussion, the event ended with a short film set in Marathon The universe, created by Alberto Mielgo, the Oscar winner in 2022 for the best short cartoon film (Windshield wipers). Mielgo also worked on Love, death & robot And Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The short film displays the lives of the running people, with their bodies being chopped by the enemy, alternating with something reminiscent of the Voiight-Kampff test from Runner Blade.
Marathon Will come to PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X – although the fact that Bungie was bought by Sony in early 2022. The interested player can also be registered to participate in Marathon The Alpha test, starting on April 23.
Studio does not talk about MarathonThe price of the stream, but a representative from Bungie confirmed with the polygon Marathon It will not be free to play, and there will be prepaid costs. Currently, it is still unclear how much it will be, or how the studio can choose to make money from the game after its launch.
