Nintendo Switch 2’s hardware is no longer a secret, which means we can finally see how it is ranked on the Steam floor. Nintendo has removed a list of full specifications after transition 2 directly and has some surprising features that make it a direct opponent with Valve’s handheld device than we think.
Nintendo has confirmed a number of games coming to Switch 2, including ports of Elden RoundThen Cyberpunk 2077And Fictional. The Steam deck was able to play those games right now, giving us a pretty good idea about what Switch 2 would be like when it released in June.
This is how the hardware specifications of Switch 2 compared to the Steam floor.
System size

Nintendo extends the overall size of the Switch 2 slightly to match its larger screen. Now it is about 4 inches tall and 9.4 inch long (with joy attached). That means it is slightly smaller than the floor slightly about 4.6 inches and 11.7 inches wide.
Screen size

The new screen of Switch 2 is actually larger than the screen on both versions of the Steam floor. The new Switch 2 LCD screen is 7.9 inches while the LCD of the Steam floor is 7 inches and the Steam OLED floor is 7.4 inches. Valve gains the upper hand when it comes to the screen technology with the OLED of Steam Deck – helping it to have an advantage for HDR – but Nintendo has guaranteed to keep the screen priority in the design of Switch 2.
Screen resolution
The screen resolution of Switch 2 is 1080p, an upgrade from the 720p screen of the switch. This is also an upgrade on the resolution of Steam Deck, 1280×800. However, at small screen size on both handheld devices, the difference will be quite minimal. You may notice that the game runs smoother with the screen of Switch 2 that can reach 120 Hz. Steam floor LCD can only reach 60 Hz and Steam OLED 90 Hz floor.
When docked, switch 2 can export up to 4K with 60 frames per second for TV. Steam floor can also make 4K, but it can also double the FPS to 120. And although it is quite unrealistic, it can actually produce 8K at 60 frames per second.
All that said, the image quality on the LCD screen of Switch 2 will not be suitable for the clarity of the Steam Deck OLED screen. Expect the image on Switch 2 is black that looks gray and color than what you see on Valve’s device.
CPU/GPU

Although Nintendo has revealed the full specifications of Switch 2, its NVIDIA graphics and processor chip are still concealed in some secrets. According to a leak from someone on the Switch 2 motherboard, the system will run on the custom Nvidia Tegra T239 processor. Analysts predict it will reach the same level as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. If it’s true, the 2 switch will be a bit faster than Steam’s Zen 2 processor, but when you take into account its rumored 12 GB memory – compared to Steam Deck’s 16 GB memory – the difference will be minimal.
Warehouse
When it comes to storage, the 2 switch is slightly better than the Steam floor. Switch 2 has 256 GB of global flash storage (UFS) and no other version of the hardware with more. That makes it even with the Steam Deck LCD screen, and half of the 512 GB capacity of Base Steam Deck OLED. This is not exactly a fair price for price, but Switch 2 cannot compete with the more expensive version of Steam Deck OLED, with 1 TB.
You can expand the memory of Switch 2 with microSD Express cards up to 2 TB. This is very important because the microSD Express card is much faster (and more expensive) than the microSDXC and MicroSDHC cards that Steam Decks supports. According to the potential transfer speed, Nintendo won.
Battery life
The battery life of conversion will last about 2 to 6.5 hours depending on the game you play. Steam floor LCD is rated for about 6 to 12 hours and the Steam floor OLED can last from 2 to 8 hours. The battery life is really difficult to compare because it can change a lot, but on average, the floor will help you with the price of charging cables less often.
Gate

Nintendo surprised us with not only one, but two USB-C ports on Switch 2. And just like the previous model, it will have a 3.5mm headphone jack (taking it, Apple!). Steam floor only carries a USB-C port with headphone jack and unlike Switch 2, it has no fancy base.
Price
Nintendo set a rather steep price on Switch 2, but it is not really far from Steam. Switch 2 will cost $ 449.99 for the control panel and $ 499.99 for the control panel and the digital copy of Mario Kart. The steam deck is a bit cheaper if you use the LCD version at $ 399 – this is the closest version to the Nintendo console.
As soon as you step on the Steam OLED floor, Nintendo’s dashboard becomes one of the cheaper controls. OLED Sheeb Scoks starts from $ 549 and increases to $ 649 for 1 TB version. But this is also the place where the Steam’s specifications began to change from Switch 2, so it was not exactly a fair comparison.
